Skateseat is a response to a commission from Nelson City Council for a public seat that “is not adverse to use by skateboarders” (the actual line NCC gave me).

Of course I had to go all out on the skate friendly brief and design a ramp that doubles as a seat. One piece was a straight section and the other a quarter round, made from Purple Heart timber sustainably accessed. The two componants complement each other and provide solid seating and a solid surface for skaters and bikers.
